About This Item

Front of the coin

This pretty black nickel coin is a personal coin for snow wolf. On the coin, which has a wilderness scene with a wolf howling at a G moon, is a bit by Thoreau: "In wilderness is the preservation of the world." Definitely words to live by.

We found it at Deer Hollow on 12/27/2011. We'll find a new home for it at least where the coyotes howl. Not many wolves around here!

Sorry to say this was not in Deer Hollow. I have had this coin in my possession in the past so I would have recognized it.

A wolf is made to wander
And I see this coin does do
Through the years since we made the trade
It's followed its caching cue.
Keep it trotting along now
Miles and cachers it's meant to see.
And a toast to geofriends worldwide --
As 3blackcats sure is to me.

Traded this to 3blackcats, oh, 3 and a half years ago... where does the time go!?! Figure it's past time to discover it, yes?

SkipperP gave it to me to hold and we were going to put it in a cache today. My hands got so cold I couldn't find it in my own pocket. At the end of the hike I gave it back to him and it will have to wait a couple more days to find a cache.

Will keep it in the wild.

The view from this cache looks much like the coin (except for the wolf). Sorry it took so long to drop this coin, but health issues got in the way.

Picked this pretty coin up today. It has been sitting for 3 months. I will move it along.

I have seen an occasional coyote in these parts, but no wolves that I know about. So it was nice to discover this coin when walking past one of my caches.

Watched a coyote hunt in a meadow below here, then found a reference to wolves in the Nov 28, 2004 log for this cache. So this was the place to leave it today! Beautiful, peaceful spot.
