Current Goal

Warthog is a spunky little thing. He enoys all kinds of activity, but especially military events, bases, etc.

About This Item

Tank Killer

The A10 was built to stop an expected flood of Russian tanks, should NATO ever go to war with the Soviet Bloc. I was a laser targeting (Sensor Systems) tech on the initial A10 Cadre as we deployed to bases in England, so this little guy holds some sentimental history for me.

After the Soviet threat dissolved, the A10 was threatened with extinction as military programs and bases went under the post-cold war budget chopping block. Fortunately, the bean counters hadn't completely axed the program when Desert Storm began, and the Iraqi's quickly learned how deadly a pissed-off Warthog can be.

This 'Hog was made with Ground Support in mind, and he would enjoy meeting as many current and former Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines as possible. Please help him on his goodwill tour - and please post pictures of the adventures you take him on. He's not pretty, but he's a ham when the cameras come out!

We had a little mishap! When he was coming in for a landing on the living room carpet, he got stepped on by Jasper our 70 lbs Chocolate Lab, and his landing gear broke off. Luckily for him I am a machinist!! We will have the landing gear back on in time for him to touch down on a WW II aircraft carrier. The piston_heds

Had to log the TB in to Norfolk Airport Bug Portal Since QOCMike didn't get a chance to. Anyway, this is where I found the bug. Now I'm picking him up and we are going to bring him to as military bases as we can down in S.C. Shouldn't be too hard for me since I'm in the Navy stationed in S.C.! We will be bringing him to CAFB, The Citadel, Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (Where I'm stationed.), Naval Weapons Station Charleston, and who knows, Maybe he'll be the first A-10 to land on an aircraft carrier!! After He's done down here, We'll bring him back up to Norfolk and let him loose in a cache near a base in December. Watch for further developments! the piston_heds

I've taken it out of Central NC and gotten it to Norfolk. I think there are a couple of military bases around here.

8:20a.m. Well, Islands and Stars, I am on my way 😁. I am now in the good hands of YBindoors and he is keen on helping TBs meet their goal, so he is going to take me to a Street Rod show this weekend 😉. I met up with Marine Corps TB when we got to YB's place this morning. MC is a pretty cool dude, he is headed up near Greensboro in a few days. Nice to have a military friend around for a little while. Why has taken MC on bicycle rides so maybe I can go on one before I leave. YB says B😎 everybody!
