"Knights, Generals, and Keydets" marked our fourth find of the Gems of Rockbridge Geocaching Trail on this date.

It was nice visiting the school again, although the last time I was on campus was back when it was an all female college.

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/23/2010 Hauk_Wolfseye retrieved it from Vesuvius, Virginia Virginia   Visit Log

"Vesuvius, Virginia" marks the third in the Gems of Rockbridge Geocaching Trail found on this particular day.

Although I enjoyed finding this one .... and seeing the location of the famous photo taken so many years ago ... I have to say that the owner of the cache needs to perform some serious maintenance because you cannot read the clue at all.

It took a guess on the answer to the incomplete question and guessed right.

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/23/2010 Hauk_Wolfseye retrieved it from Osceola Mill Virginia   Visit Log

Osceola Mill marks the the second cache found this day in the "Gems of Rockbridge Geocaching Trail."

Discovered the cache safe and sound in its hiding spot and have to say that I have not stopped here since I photographed the Monocan Indians conducting a small powwow back in the 90s.

Respectfully,

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/23/2010 Hauk_Wolfseye retrieved it from Don't Fear the Reaper Virginia   Visit Log

I mounted a Rockbridge County Expedition to see if we could find all of the caches associated with the "Gems of Rockbridge Geocaching Trail" in one day with "Don't Fear the Reaper" being the first.

Located this one with relative ease.

Would you believe that I once broke my leg up under the mill's water wheel back in the 90s?

I have been meaning to get around to "Ashley's Roundabout Cache" for some time and finally did today (after a trip to the playground) without much success.

Made it to the top of the hill with no problem and explored as best as I could around ground zero as indicated by the GPS unit, however, had to call "no joy" after about ten minutes as I had my almost 3-year-old with me.

It may be there and I did not see it or it may be gone as mowing operations look to have recently occurred at ground zero.

This means you had people moving all around up there plus what they left behind was tall underbrush that is now jumbled and laying all about.

Toss in the prickly plants woven into the cut remains, and you can guess that it became at times a rather uncomfortable search.

Respectfully,
