Speed around the USA and the world reminding cachers of the fun they had as youngsters playing with and collecting Matchbox cars. It would be great if you would share a story or two of your experiences with this classic toy. If you are in an area that focused on another brand, write a little about it. The Silver Ghost is participating in the Northeast Ohio Matchbox Travel Bug Race which runs from late March, 2011 until early September, 2011. Please move the Ghost along quickly during this time frame.
I remember collecting empty bottles in the early 1960s and taking them to the nearby drugstore for the refunds. It was a fast way to make some spare change. I'd use the money to purchase matchbox cars, which came in their very own matchbox in those days. I treasured those cars but I also played and played with them until they became very worn.
