Geocache Description:

Note: This is no longer a multi-cache. Indicating the change from a multi to a traditional cache on this page is just too hard.

This geocache has a monetary theme. It also provides an informative nature walk along easy terrain. Set along a sealed cyclepath meandering through a forest wetland in the Dunmore area, geocachers can read the informative plaques as they search for the hidden cash/cache. The original cache (placed 2006) was located under a timber bridge but it was swept away by very heavy rains and flooding in March 2011, just as it was almost full of coins, and after several desperate searches we gave up looking for it. And after it was replaced it went missing, then re-appeared, but empty of its loot. So in Aug 2015 we relocated it to a spot further away from pesky muggles, but during an extraordinary dry winter in 2017 its cover of foliage and undergrowth were no longer and so the cache would have been easier to spot. The aim is to swap our foreign currency with yours - so its a foreign money only cache. If you don’t have a foreign coin to exchange, that’s ok, simply sign the log. If you only want to make a deposit then that's fine too. The money we’ve put in the cache is mostly spare cash we've collected over the years from our overseas holidays - you know, the one's you find in the bottom of your pack after you get home and they sit in a drawer for years. They're not in mint condition and mostly low-denominational, so don’t start planning any quick flights to South America. If you’re a local then access to the wetland is probably best by bicycle, but if not, then park your car at the southern end of the path and enjoy the nice walk along the even graded track into the wetland. Despite being forested, GPS signal reception is usually ok. Its only about 15 m off the track (west) so keep an eye out for muggles. P.S: If you hear strange noises and you’re the only people on the path, relax – its only the local poltergeist welcoming you (apparently many years ago a woman’s remains were found in the forest).
