I started my life in a factory in Adelaide
1973 I came off the line
$2830 is what my original owner paid
A wealthy businessman with a dodgy past
With a 202 under the hood
Made the getaway pretty fast
Owner was caught and I was placed in hippy hands
Travelled this great country
The snowy mountains to the desert sands
A bed in the back and carpeted interior
The envy of many a HQ owner
All other vans were totally inferior
Bought by a surfer and his various broads
Down to the beach every second day
My roof racks always carried an assortment of boards
The rust set in and the duco became fainter
Traded in on a Japanese car
Wholesaled to a bloke who made his dough as a painter
Changed his profession to a suit wearer
No need for me
Sold for $300 to a car repairer
Restored to original with a new paint job
Rebuilt my motor
And a new gearbox that cost a pretty bob
Insured for $8000 way over market price
Owner in difficulty
Guess who was the sacrifice
So this is where I ended up, all bent and bashed
Found by a family
And subsequently geocached
