Geocache Description:

A historical part of Ballarat unknown even by most residents. Has some stairs and a short slightly steep dirt path.




The starting co-ordinates for this multi cache will take you to a historical marker in Ballarat's history.

Then from the information board you will need to work out these clues to find the next location.

1. What year were the great floods? Minus 1840 from this number for the answer = AB

2. How many meters was the deepest shaft ever sunk in the Ballarat region?
Divide that number by two and add ten. = CDE

3. What year was the quartz carted away for the White Swan Resevoir wall? = 19FG

4. How long after the royal visit was the mine closed? = H

5. On average how many men would have worked in one of the three shifts per day? =IJ

6. The mine was in opperation for how many years? = KK

1. Who else, appart from William and his cousin, was one of the first settlers in the area? (first name only)

Using the code A=1 B=2 C=3 etc. work out the code for his name. Now add all the numbers together and divide by two. = XY

2. Take the last two numbers of the year the Yuille cousins first settled the area and add 6. = ST

3. In 185? what did Archie abandon the station? = W

4. The area was known as Yuille's Ballarat Station until? Add these numbers together and multiply by 6 = LM

5. How many miles did Henry go south? Multiply this by three. =P
