Great day out of just a quick afternoon cache hunt. Take the family and the dog for a walk
UPDATE: Cache has been moved about 1m from previous location. To find the cache walk up from the beach find the vertical track that children have made. This track intersects a horizontal track about 5m long. go to the furtherest point away from the parking area and reach behind and under the prickly bush. There is no need to scamble around off the track that is there but you will need to reach for the cache You are looking for a nice sturdy GREEN/disguised Ammo box.
This is a place that the locals go to get away from the tourists. Its just one of the many places near Albany that the tourist rarely gets to see. We hope you take the time to drive in and have a pleasant walk. If you feel up to the challenge then walk all the way up to the far rocks and back.(about 5km return) Or you could explore the whole area right up to the Peninsular that is opposite Emu point Albany. The road into the area becomes gravel for the last part but a normal car will do this with no problems. Park your car in the car park and proceed on foot. Walk along the beach as this is the direction we went when we placed the cache. Don’t be tempted to walk in from the road above it will be more trouble than its worth because the cache is closer to the bottom of the hill plus you could do damage to the bushland. We placed the cache in a small PRICKLY shrub. The cache is set above the level that a storm may reach but isn’t too high up the hill to be awkward. The views from up hear are nice as you write the cache but there were a few little ants around also so take note of where you sit. The best thing about this beach is that it’s versatile. You can go for a swim or a walk or take your dog for a walk. You can fish off the rocks or off the beach or you can take your binoculars and view the ships coming into the bay. Maybe fly a kite. The sand is clean (it squeaks when you walk on it) and the beach is clear and sparkling. We hope you enjoy it.
