Qite close to a hidden feature of subterranean Canberra we find a surface located geocache.
It may surprise all of you to know that this cache is located on top of a tourist attraction that is high on the list of 'most wanted to see' items that a small group of Australians want to see. The nearby concrete 'table' like structure is the roof of one of the largest, most complex and most stunning storm water drains in Australia. When standing on the cache you are near by the legendary Temple of Doom, a large underground chamber.
But, we're into much more dangerous sports, so stick to the surface please. Not that you could get down there. The cache is not far from the table like structure.
Speaking of safer sports, while engaged in the hobby of drain exploring some years ago two drain explorers came across a jogger who was having a heart attack. They whipped out their mobile phone and asked a local kid where they were. The kid said "Kambah." They found the spot on the map and called it into triple 0 which was answered by someone in Sydney. The operator asked where they were. So they said "Kambah." The operator then asked; "Where abouts in Canberra?" They then said, "Not Canberra, Kambah, it's in the ACT." The operator again asked where in Canberra they were. To which the guys said again. "No Kam-bah!" The operator must have thought this was a prank call because she again asked "If you can't tell me which suburb of Canberra you're in I'm going to have to disconnect the call." The exasperated explorers yelled back. "Not Canberra, Kambah! K-A-M-B-A-H! It's a f@#$ing suburb!"
The ambulance made it in time to save the old guy but the two explorers were doing CPR and mouth to mouth on him by that time watched by a small mob of local kids.
And speaking of local kids... This location is in plain view of houses and cars along a nearby busy road. While I was placing the cache some kid not more than 7 years old rode his push bike up and started yelling at my car. I was at this stage finished deploying the cache and was picking up rubbish nearby. The little squirt rode up, insulted me then gave me the thumbs down. How weird. I took my collected rubbish and fled. Use caution when approached by the savage children of this Burb.
