Geocache Description:

This kind of a sad location. On August 13th 1940 something terrible happened here that would have far reaching concequences for Australia and her allies during World War 2. I felt it fitting that this place not be forgotten.

It is quite surprising how few people come to this place. Though recently I've seen some construction crew head up here, with the intention of building some sort of turn around place and perhaps something in the middle.

The road up from the main road is very rough and corrugated. You might want to consider driving slowly and cautiously. Even my little 4WD tended to bounce around a fair bit and head towards the trees now and then. Once over the ridge the going is much easier though. You can drive right to the site if you drive well and your car can manage it.

Mind you, when I was here a taxi turned up. Some one had obviously given the driver a hoax call. He thought I was trying to get mobile phone reception despite me telling him three times I had a GPS unit not a phone. He even showed me his own phone got great reception. Stand in the middle of the road to get best reception.

The cache is a small cube box about 15cm on a side hidden right behind the landmark in the pebbles. I felt quite dodgy putting it there but it was the only suitable place I could find and describe clearly enough to prevent people wandering around saring at all the other things here which are all exactly the same.

Finally, this site is an ideal cache in, trash out site. The amount of rubbish around the area was staggering. Please take some of it home with you. Look around the area and you'll spot lots amoung the trees.
