Fitters’ Workshop / Banks of the Condamine
The “Town Dance” scene was filmed one afternoon at the Fitters’ Workshop. While the heritage-listed building provided the perfect backdrop, the filmmakers weren’t quite prepared for the level of echo. It took many days of sound editing in post-production to make the audio clearer.
This cache gets its name from the song which plays during Lauren and Crystal’s dance: “Banks of the Condamine”. It is an Australian folk song about a woman who offers to disguise herself as a man so she won’t have to be parted from her lover while he goes away shearing. Caspian Scott (guitar) and Will Scott (flute) perform an instrumental rendition of the song in the film.
