Welbourn's Oriental Street takes its name from one of the ships that left England for New Zealand carrying settlers for the Plymouth Company. The Oriental weighed 506 tonnes and set out from London on the 22nd June,1841,arriving in New Plymouth on 7th November 1842. During the vovage,three births were recorded. The Oriental arrived just off shore at the mouth of the Huatoki River with 191 passengers. Its name lives on in this street. Enjoy finding the cache!
