The battle of Beersheba on the 31st of October 1917, occurred with the historic charge of Australia’s 4th light horse brigade against the heavily fortified town of Beersheba. With bayonets used like swords and starting at dusk, the brigade stormed the town in a very unconventional charge. This caught the Turkish defences off guard and helped secure the town and the strategic water supply for the advancing allied troops, numbering some 60 000. Made up of three regiments, from the 4th from Victoria, 12th from NSW, and the 11th from QLD, who were held back in reserve.
An estimated 1.8 million litres of water were needed to help quench the thirst of the allies, including some 60 000 men and 100 000 animals.

This cache is to help travellers explore a few wonders of the local area. An eclipse tin down low, but not under. Hidden also to help inspire our great family/friends MEMO who wish to hide their own caches. And so, while in town we helped them establish a few hides themselves.
