Geocache Description:

I Kawatiri Coastal and Heritage Trail. Westport to Charleston.  The concept was put together in 2015 after lots of feasibility studies and surveying etc to build this 55km track. The Provincial Growth Fund of $9.36 mil goes towards building this track which is due for competition in June 2022.

Section 1.   Puwaha    Westport to Carters Beach  is first of the 9 section to be built and was officially opened on December 6, 2020.                        This 5.5k section stretches from the Buller Bridge to Carters Beach. The Trail gives walkers, runners and cyclists a chance to experience unique parts of the local environment. Information panels and shelters along the way provide insights into the history and ecology of the area. The Trail winds through local farmland, an estuary, a bird sanctuary, wetlands and historical sites for both Maori and Pakeha settlers.

Cache is a camo container with log only, BYO pen. Place near a warning sign  🐝🐝🐝 Bee ware 🐝🐝🐝  Please ensure that it’s securely returned to its position.
