Busselton Heritage - Rail Way
The Busselton Railway line has been an important part of the Local History.
The Railway Station was built in 1894, (originally on Stanley Street).
It was used to transport timber and produce to Perth, the South West and the Busselton Jetty for shipment Overseas.
A passenger train was also used to serve the community, linking other communities within the region.
The Railway Station has been moved several times and is now at the Busselton Foreshore, housing the train 'The Ballarat'.
As the Railway line continued on from Busselton, it went out to the local Timber Mill just west of the main townsite.
(Now the possum habitation area near the Busselton Hospital)
Then veered in a south-westerly direction heading towards Margaret River via a other sidings.
This is the start of the footpath/cycle path, that was the old Railway Line, from here out to Vasse and beyond.
