Oompa! Oompa! Grab your lawn chair and let’s go down to the city park. It’s time to strike up the band!
Many small towns across the country used to have city bands that played once a week in their community bandshells. With music streaming out from under the arched roof, people enjoyed the sounds of John Philips Sousa.
YOUR TASK IS TO FIND AN OLD-FASHIONED ARCHED BANDSHELL. Please see attached photos to get an idea of what kind of bandshell we are looking for. Modern band shelters, gazebos, and other structures not specifically as described are not welcomed. This is a log anywhere cache.
·Take and post a photo of the bandshell – it must include your GPS.
·Give location of the bandshell and coordinates.
·If you know the history or if the bandshell is still being used please share that info too.
·The usual locationless cache rules apply – one “find” per geocacher and each bandshell can be logged only once.
·No old vacation photos or internet downloads.
The coordinates listed for this cache is for the bandshell in Lingle, Wyoming. It was built in 1941 – 1942 by the WPA. Not really sure if they still use it, but they certainly maintain it well.
