This is cache is part of a series dedicated to the suburb of Curtin. It is bounded by the Cotter Road, Tuggeranong Parkway, Yarra Glen and a green strip between it and Lyons to the south. There was previously a series around this suburb and my geokids and I felt it would be fitting to create another as we love this area so much and wanted to share it. I will add more in time.
This inner south neighbourhood is named for the Right Honourable John Joseph Curtin (8 January 1885 – 5 July 1945). Curtin was Australia’s 14th Prime Minister. Regarded by many as one of Australia’s greatest Prime Ministers, Curtin served as a wartime Prime Minister serving from 7 October 1941 until his death on 5 July 1945. The first houses in Curtin were built in 1964.
This cache replaces a similar one previously in this location, as it's a great little alley for a hide and to showcase the sort of many hidden alley's in the suburb. I hope you enjoy this cache and if it takes you a while then a bite to eat also. While restaurants here seem to last only a few years they are generally a good feed and a good local hideaway.
A relatively quick grab that doesn't put you in too compromising of a position with limited foot traffic and away from the view of the restaurant patrons and staff. Please ensure the cache container is returned to its hiding spot. Be wary of locals using this walkway to hop from street to street - some stealth will of course be required. These “secret alleys” are one of my favourite things about Curtin and many other Canberra suburbs.
