At GZ you will be around the corner from a former local business in Humffray st. This business was opened in the early 1900's Clarke Bro's Tinsmith.
3 brothers ran the business which supplied locals with such things as cake tins, gold pans, scone and cookie cutters, candlestick holders and lanterns. The 2 older brothers were called up for war service which left the youngest brother Arthur home to keep the business running. Arthur or "Tinker" as locals knew him kept the shop running on his own awaiting his brothers return but unfortunately he was left to fend for himself as his brothers never returned. He continued to run the business until his death in 1970. After his death Sovereign Hill contacted my family asking if they could have the shop for their new tourist attraction. The building was donated to Sovereign Hill then the painstaking process of dismantling the shop board by board was done.....then re-assembled board by board to look exactly like it did in it's Humffray st address.
So it's a little tribute to my family and it's history. GZ is close to houses so stealth is required. A camo cache but byo pen. Close to roads so take care......happy caching
