The Cache
A small screw-top container suspended in a bag from a Manuka branch at the top of a steep climb on the Haywards Track.
Haywards Track
This 3.9 km 4WD track winds over steep terrain between the Dry Creek loop and the Haywards substation. It is part of the Belmont Regional Park.
Getting There
Option 1: (anticlockwise) Park at the Dry Creek entrance to Belmont Regional Park and climb the Dry Creek Loop to the Dry Creek - Gutbuster cache (GC3W5T3). Haywards Track branches off the Dry Creek track at this point, next to a pylon, initially heading NE before looping around to the south. The track eventually exits halfway down Haywards hill (SH58), a 1.2 km walk from Dry Creek car-park.
Option 2: (clockwise) The eastern entrance to Haywards Track is on the Haywards Hill Road (SH 58), opposite the Haywards substation. As you drive up the hill look for a short gravel road that briefly runs parallel to the highway, leading to a steel barrier. Park there. Walk up the Haywards Track avoiding the many short pylon access tracks. Either return down Haywards track or continue down the Dry Creek Loop Track to the car-park. Climb Haywards Hill to retrieve your vehicle.
