WATERSHED
At the GZ you will find yourself at the Lincoln Service Basin.
A smallish water storage that services the Creswick area.
Constructed in 1980 this water storage site holds 2.3 Million Liters of water in a covered basin that has a depth of 4 meters. Covered water storages like this are often used where contamination of water by sources like leaves, dust, bird droppings is more likely to occur. Keeping the water covered also reduces or eliminates the occurrence of algae blooms which add a lot of cost to treating water to make it suitable for drinking. This is mainly due to the removal of sunlight which limits the algae's ability to photosynthesize.
Please note that the geocache is not on the fence. No access to the water facility is required.
Please BYO Pen.
