Geocache Description:

Placed with camo at the front of the church, you will find this cache has not much room, so please BYO pen.  Should be a relatively quick find for most cachers.

St Margaret's Anglican Church

Built in 1861, this church has been serving the community for over 150 years.  The church has in the past 12 months undergone a radical transformation with a new enlarged worship space and brand new facilities added to the hall which is hired out regularly.

The original plans for the church had the rear wall as a temporary wall, so whilst the church is heritage listed, there was always provision to grow the building.  This happened in 2014/2015 with the consecation of the current site on May 9 2015.

At the rear of the property is Dendy House, named after Henry Dendy who was a prominent lay person in the church at the time of initial construction in the 1860s.

There are many notable features of the building - stained glass windows, a beautiful crucifix, and some local artefacts from other local churches who have been almagamated into the congregation at Eltham over the past 15 years including The Church of the Transfiguration, Research and St Faith's Montmorency.

The cache is located at the front of the property, so there is no need to venture in too far, but use some discretion.  If you want to get a closer look inside however, the main service is at 10:00am on a Sunday, so lots of muggles will be present at that time!
