Please note this is a high muggle area and not safe to do at night.
This cache is a canister and situated on the site of the original hospital erected in Fitzroy Crossing near the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River. This hospital provided nursing and community health services to the surrounding area during the years of 1938-1976. Care should be taken as some people will find this difficult to reach.
This hospital outpost was designed by Reverend John Flynn as part of his "Mantle of safety for bush people" linking it to the Flying Doctor Service in Derby.

Photographs of the original hospital can be found at the new hospital in town which was erected approx 7 years ago. This area of Fitzroy Crossing is subjected to periodical heavy flooding. The water has been known to be more than a metre deep at this site. The dirt road can be quite corrugated and may not be suitable for caravans. Parking is right at GZ. During the wet season the surrounding long grass and scrub can be home to slithery critters so please take care. Please BYO a writing stick.
