Geocache Description:

Rotorua sewage plant

Cache is situated on the edge of Puarenga stream walkway you can walk this walkway into town or the Redwoods going the other way.

Puarenga - Flowers of Sulphur - refers to sulphur particles floating on the surface, sometimes joining together, resembling petals of flowers, hence the name... from The History and Placenames of Rotorua by the late, great Don Stafford.

This cache is just of the walkway up by the sewage treatment plant some people think it smells around here which could be from the sulphur or the sewage plant who knows. If your a local your probably use to the smell of Rotorua and won't notice anything.

Caution it is strongly recommend that you proceed with care in this area being next to the sewage ponds there have been sewer rats seen in the close vicinity to the cache .
