Country Fire Authority (CFA) firefighters protect 65 per cent of Melbourne and all of regional and rural Victoria from bushfire, grassfire and structural fire.

The majority of Victoria’s firefighters are volunteers, with more than 37,000 farmers, school teachers, shop assistants, builders, plumbers and others, male and female, being called out day or night, summer and winter, to protect our community.

Training is essential for preparing CFA volunteer and career fire fighters for the varied and often complex types of fires and other incidents they will attend.

North of where you will find this cache is the Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre - Penshurst Campus.

The Penshurst training campus has been operating for 21 years which has been  provides volunteers from across South West Victoria with vital practical training.

Training offered at this centre is practical and scenario-based, meaning members can experience ‘live fire’ in a safe, controlled and realistic environment.

Training facilities like this means no matter what the hazard or the agency, all those who put their hand up to protect lives and property have access to the best training facilities available.
