Geocache Description:

----Welcome to Mount Smythe Roadside Mailbox----

To explain the Letterbox Hybrids, please refer the following Knowledge Books quotation from Groundspeak and the relevant link (http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx)

Letterbox Hybrids

This cache type pays homage to an older form of scavenger hunt. A Letterbox Hybrid must include significant GPS usage for at least part of the hunt. Letterbox-style clues may be used to guide seekers to the container, but only if the clues are accompanied by coordinates specific to the hide. The container for a Letterbox Hybrid must include a stamp, which stays with the geocache and may be used by letter-boxers to stamp their personal letter-boxing book. The cache can be logged without using the stamp.

The trail to Mount Smythe commences and ends at the car park near the Wangaratta Ski Club.  It is perhaps a 15 minute walk each way along a ridgeline.  The co-ordinates will take you to a rock cairn.  From there you are required to conduct a Waypoint projection to find the direction and distance to GZ.  To locate GZ, go to:

12° True for 13m

At GZ you will find the cache container hidden in the usual manner - inside is a STAMP which is to remain in the cache container.  You may stamp your logbook with this stamp and if you have your own team stamp, please utilise it when you sign the cache's log book.

This cache is located in an alpine environment and so recommended access is between the months of November and April. However conditions can deteriorate rapidly at any time of year. Please ensure that you are appropriately prepared and be sure to take warm clothing and wet weather gear to cater for all conditions.

We hope you enjoy another variety of cache in this wonderful part of the world.  Happy caching!
