Geocache Description:

The reason for this cache was to explain and also to show you a code that I found was used to help prisoners out when escaping German camps and other places they found they were interned as a prisoner of war.

Other than seeing this code used amid a documentary on television about war time history I would have not been aware that there was any way to assist prisoners escaping out of the camps.

Americans assisted other airmen from Australia, Britan and forces from the allies that had been captured and held in these areas. It was used mostly to aid captured soldiers to escape from their prisoner of war camps.

It began after our forces found that during their missions they were losing plenty of our aircrew which had been shot down and taken prisoner. Also they wanted to check the Nazi forces were taking care of crew that were being held behind barbed wire.

The intelligence officers came along with a plan that was capable of training specially selected officers among the aircrew who would be amid those more likely to have gone into captivity. After having been both shot down and taken prisoner basic letters would be written to their children, wifes and family or loved ones.

The intelligence officers would then work it so all the wanted letters sent to a leading intelligent decipherer to help move it towards their objective of helping to stop the war and also disrupt the enemy. Letters would then continued amid all the mix of the regular mail service with all the other packages and mail being sent out on their way.

The intelligence area personnel could then build and amass information about what was the best way to assist prisoners in actually escaping from the camps. Then about this time they would help many of these men to escape deep behind enemy lines.

Then the other way then helped was to clump useful items in with parcels, many of which were the allowed red cross parcels sent to prisoners for use when they were is area such as prison camps.

The aid would assist prisoners in forged travel papers for use after they managed to escape. They sent camera and other items to allow them affix photos to the forged papers.

Amid the parcels they also sent gifts and money so that Germans acting as guards could be paid any amount of money as bribes. Along with the items received, and banned items received from bribed guards plenty of plans could be then made for escape.

This system was used during The Great Escape when huge chaos was caused by allied forces after a mass escape. Unfortunatley the system was so sucessful that the escape allowed so many to bust out that Hitler himself so hated the fact they escaped that other attempts should be detered by anilating fixty percent of those that were recaptured.

The code was secret after the war. For many years any information on it was kept Most Secret until recently.

Now you need to work out and then never reveal it to anyone else.

Even after you break the code, can you find the cache?

The happy cacher will be taken to adore a beautiful spot on a trip to Lake Macquarie.

On the bank you will find something that out of place and from the past.

Take some time to rest amid the trees and enjoy the mix of beautiful surrounds sit on the bank.

This code is not evil and meant to frustrate or anger.

So please enjoy the cache. Others might end up getting quite wet .

The allies have fooled the Nazi's with their secret codes. Enjoy the cache hunt and look around for the prize in amongst the trees.
