Circuit Training Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rheneas: It's not possible to keep this cache active in it's current form -- and GZ has become a little bit "on the nose" so it's not a pleasant find. Archiving this one with a view to re-establishing a similar cache nearby.

Geocache Description:

A fairly leisurely cache highlighting certain exercise equipment located around Jonas Bradley Reserve. The cache is not located at the listed coordinates, however you will need to visit the listed coordinates to answer questions in order to calculate GZ.

Jonas Bradley Reserve, located adjacent to the Ponds Boulevard, is a recreational park with facilities including tennis & basketball courts, barbecue and picnic facilities. The oval also caters for organized sporting events such as cricket and football.

History

Opened in early 2012, the reserve was named after sergeant Jonas Bradley of the 102nd Regiment who arrived on the Third Fleet in 1791. Bradley received a grant of 250 acres of land from Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1818 fronting Windsor Road which now forms part of Kellyville Ridge. Jonas, along his two sons Thomas and William, were considered to be the first successful growers of tobacco in Australia.

The Cache

There are a number of circuit training stations located at various points around the Reserve. Following the athletic theme of this location, you will be required to visit each set of exercise equipment and answer simple questions in order to determine the coordinates of GZ and find the geocache.

There is plenty of street parking available on The Ponds Boulevard or in the Reserve car-park if the gates are open. The waypoints can be visted in any order, however you may save youself some unnessessary exercise if you do follow the suggested order.

Now put on your tracksuit and make sure you stretch those muscles properly before attempting this geocache!

Waypoint 1

At the listed coordinates, you will find the first set of exercise equipment adjacent to the tennis courts: Balancing Bars, Roman Chair, and Curved Sit-Up Bench. Count the number of long horizontal beams in the Balancing Bars, let this be A. Count the number of circles cut into the grey metallic section of the Curved Sit-Up Bench, let this be E.

Waypoint 2

The journey to Waypoint 2 should take you past the tennis courts, reserve facilities, playground, and basketball / netball courts, ending in a secluded little grassy area beside an artificial pond. Here you will find: Lunge, Dip and Push-Up Bars, Pommel Horse, and Stage Step. Count the number of steps on the Stage Step; subtract 3 and let the result be C. Count the number of large rounded silver bolts on the top of the Pommel Horse, let this be F.

Waypoint 3

Waypoint 3 is located towards the north-western edge of the playing field and contains: Vertical Jump Stretcher and Multi-Function Trainer. Count the total number of balls that should be found on the Vertical Jump Stretcher (note: at time of publication, one of the balls had been vandalised and is gone; you should still count this missing ball); add 1 to this number and let the result be G. Count the number of grey flat horizontal bars joining the two vertical poles in the Multi-Function Trainer (note: ignore the round bar at the top of the equipment); Divide this number by 7: let the result be H.

Waypoint 4

Waypoint 4 is situated at the south-western edge of the playing field and there you will find: Triple Chin-Up Bracket and Horizontal Ladder Bars. Count the number of circles cut into the grey metallic section of the Triple Chin-Up Bracket, let this be D. Count the number of grey rungs in the Horizontal Ladder Bars, and divide that number by 7: let the result be B.

GZ

If you've made correct observations at each waypoint, the answer to each question should be a non-negative integer.

The cache is located at S 33° 4A.BCD E 150° 5E.FGH.

The reserve has high muggle activity in the early mornings, evenings and weekends, so please take care and use stealth when retrieving the cache. Good luck!
