This is the car park for the Tennent trail! So unless you didn't come by car - I suggest you start here!
At 1380m Mount Tennent is the first mountain you see when heading to Namadgi! It’s a great mountain, and I think that all Canberran’s should climb it at least once! It offers a great experience, and fantastic views! So, if you haven’t been up, and need a little more incentive - here you go!
Being an 8km hike/ride (16km return) – and about 800m worth of climb - it is not trivial - but in my book - a great experience! And all on a well-formed fire trail! (Well, except for some tiny off track bits to find the caches). Just make sure you bring plenty of water, and some warm cloths!
It seems that cache trails are all the rage! What? 1 smiley for climbing Mt Tennent not enough? Certainly it used to be! – In fact, every time I've been up there, there have been MANY people on this mountain (more than 20), climbing it for no smiley’s at all! - Just for the views! But of course you will have to continue another 180 metres past #21 to get those
If you are planning on completing this trail in one hit, allow plenty of time! Pack a lunch, and plenty of water! On foot, it will take at least 5-6 hours return (which includes cache searching/signing time)
Please note - the caches in the series do not contain a pen - please BYO pen!
