Old McDonald's cache is located along the historic McDonalds Track overlooking lush and productive pasture. Looking East are Hazelwood and LoyYang Power Stations in the Latrobe Valley.
McDonalds Track was first surveyed in 1860 by G.T. McDonald. It runs for 112km from Lang Lang (Western Port Bay) to Morwell. The track was originally only 2.1m wide. The pioneers of Gippsland used the track to clear the beautiful countryside that it passes through.
Industry, history and farmland on the very scenic McDonald's Track.
The cache is an easy driveby large enough for swaps. Enjoy the view.
For further information about the history of the area refer to the book "The Land of the Lyre Bird", A story of early settlement in the Great Forest of South Gippsland.
