#17 cache by harrowang
The Springhurst/Byawatha Landcare Group has created a self-guided Eco Tour of sustainable farming, forestry and land management sites in the Springhurst/ Eldorado/Byawatha areas. (Brochures are available from the Wangaratta Visitors' Centre) We thought it would be interesting to highlight some of the features along this Tour with a cache or five. Many of the roads in this series are un-sealed but quite manageable by a 2WD vehicle – the farmers drive them all the time!
This cache series is not designed to be done in any particular order, so you can start and end where you like.
North East Water began its recycling works along this road back in 1934. During summer the recycled water is irrigated on to crops and pastures. During winter, the recycled water is stored in the 300ML storage with excess water being further polished by advanced treatment processes before being returned to the environment.
We found this amazing old eucalypt right in the heart of NE water recycling country. It has very unusual bark and we bet it could tell some great stories of farming in this District. Please take care not to damage the tree or its bark in any way. The container has been re-located to nearby the tree to prevent further damage to the bark. Please replace as found.
The cache is a Mint tin container in camouflage colours and holds a log book. Please bring your own writing utensil.
