This cache is placed in the view of what is now known as the White House of Dunedin..William Larnach jointly owned the township of Shiel Hill with a R.M. Roberson, but he had no knowledge of the land and it's potential. William Larnach had this house built for him by Mason & Wales to be called hotel Dandy Dinmont where he could leave his horses and proceed on his own paddle ferryboat called Colleen after his daughter,to Dunedin. But for a number of reassons the idea failed, He let the house to a tenant, and when he retook possesion of it he expressed disgust with the neglected state in which it had been allowed to fall. But he admitted he had not looked at the place for many years.
