Come and join us celebrate this “once in four year
event”. This event is being held in Wollongong and is part of
a Worldwide Multi-Event happening on the 29th of February 2012.
A leap year only comes around once every four years. Much
superstition surrounds a year leap, supposedly it’s the
- Only day of the year a woman can propose marriage.
- Its unlucky in Scotland to be born in a leap day.
- Astrologers believe those born under the sign of Pisces on
February 29 have unusual talents. A geocacher gets to find caches
on the 366th day of the year.
A few other leap year facts
- The exact time the Earth takes to complete a full circle around
Sun is a little longer than a year, 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes,
and 46 seconds.
- Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year.
- But every year divisible by 100 is not a leap year.
- Unless the year is also divisible by 400, then it is still a
leap year.
- The longest time between two leap years is 8 years. Last time
was between 1896 and 1904. The next time will be between 2096 and
2104.
Since the 29th is a weeknight event we’ll keep it simple.
A social gathering at the posted coordinates (Cholesterol Corner
– 292 Princes Hwy) starting at 6.00pm.
Please post a note with your intentions to attend. Most
importantly, it’s the best way to tick off the 29th Feb on
your finds calendar.
