This is part of a local series we have set up. We came across a similar series in the Lake District created by ‘The Smileys’ which we really enjoyed completing, and thought we would recreate a similar series in Derbyshire.
Bretby is a village in the south of Derbyshire, on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The name means "dwelling place of Britons". Bretby is believed to be the site of a major battle between the Danes and kingdom of Mercia in AD880. In 1209 Bretby Church and Castle were built, the latter being destroyed to make way for Bretby Hall.
The cache is located in the area of the village green. This could be done as a cache and dash, or linked in with others in the area. The cache is a nano so please bring your own pen & watch out for muggles! Stealth is required.
GPS was a little jumpy when placing cache - please let us know if co-ords are way out!
