Geocache Description:

I have replaced the Puzzle Multi that ran through here before--"Puzzles in Paradise" with a number of caches.
My intention is to have a trail of caches all the way to the end, at the moment, I have laid out to about halfway, if someone wants to "leapfrog" mine and hide some that would be good, just email me with the co-ords, as I have pre-booked a few.

PROTECT OUR KAURI
  • This area does have Kauri Dieback, so please:-
  • Make sure shoes, tyres and equipment are clean of dirt before and after visiting kauri forest
  • Clean shoes and any other equipment that comes into contact with soil after every visit, especially if moving between bush areas
  • Keep to defined park tracks at all times. Any movement of soil around the roots of a Kauri tree has the potential to spread the disease.
  • Please note there is a ban on dogs through here, dogs can inadvertently spread the disease if they disturb the soil around the Kauri trees and parts of the coastal areas are bird sanctuaries.

For more information about Kauri Dieback, please follow this LINK.

Welcome to the start of the Okura River Walk, from here you can walk all the way to Stillwater, through some beautiful bush and coastal areas, possibly leaving a vehicle at Stillwater so you don't have to walk there (9 km's approx ) and back (total of 18).

The terrain is steep in sections, flat and gentle sloping in other places and at the moment DOC is upgrading the track, diverting it around a grove of juvenile Kauri's to prevent the spread of "Dieback", so at present you can still walk through the area concerned and you will see trees in varying stages of the disease.
Further on from there, the track can be quite muddy, take care, wear suitable footwear (no jandals, dress shoes )DOC will upgrade to the same standard they have done with the start, which you will see is excellent, in time.

Cache is a "V" bottle with logbook only BYOP.
