Matai Bay is one of Northland's pure gems consisting of two crescent-shaped coves looking out to the Pacific Ocean. There is a D.O.C camping ground popular with fishermen and holidaymakers with its safe bathing.
To locate the cache it is a 10 minute walk along a sandy beach starting at Matai Bay DOC camp.
The cache can be accessed at any tide. To view the unusual rocks for this area you will need to come at low to half tide.
