Geocache Description:

A cemetery that is well looked after by the locals. Mostly burials are from the pioneer familes in the area although there are still occasional burials for descendants of those already interred here.

cache is a 390 ml sistema type container so small swaps only. My advice is to concentrate, and only turn off to the cemetery at the road with the sign post "Woorak Cemetery"... unless you are feeling adventurous! There are 3 roads very close to each other, the southern track is rough and sandy.. and the northern track is very often full of deep, deep mud... the locals obviously decided they liked to cut corners, but you dont have to. You dont need to enter the cemetery to retrieve this cache.. but even if you dont enjoy looking around at the graves of the early pioneers, the entry gate is worth a look. you wouldnt want to have a large girth. ;-) A lot of the graves dont have headstones but the records are held by the farmer at the nearest farm house (you can see the house from the cemetery) and an information sign was put up with all the grave numbers and names so you can find the names and dates of the people who are buried here. I found this place while tracing the family history several years ago, my Great Great Great grandparents are buried here. Probably not important to you.. lol... but it is amazing to wonder what things were like for them when they arrived here in 1851 to begin a new life.
