Geocache Description:

In the old Goodlet and Smith brickworks site at Granville.

John Hays Goodlet and James Smith were partners in many early building supply companies in Sydney and country NSW. They started out in timber and soon branched out into brick and cement production. It was here in 1884 that they commenced the Goodlet and Smith brickworks, and a few years later cement works as well. The company under various owners continued to make bricks at this site up until 1985. Many houses and buildings around Sydney and NSW have had bricks and cement made at this site. Some of the original buildings and kilns are still here for us to enjoy, thanks to the local council and others. I had some trouble getting a good set of coords, I hope these are accurate.
