On the shore of Anakiwa (Nelson/Marlborough) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

johnny5a: After 14 years, this geocache will be archived. My friend who lived close to the site, reliably informs me that the cache was most likely to be washed away with the recent floods.

Thank you to all those who looked for it.

Geocache Description:

Anakiwa located 25km from Picton. The area is of outstanding beauty. Often this is the end (or start) of the Queen Charlote track.

The 71km Queen Charlotte track can be accomplished 4 days by foot. Probably 2 days by mountain bike though some parts are not rideable as you'll be pushing your bike up a very steep hill! Our friends dropped us off by Torea Bay. Took us about 5 hrs (incl. 1hr water stop!) to get back to Anakiwa. At the top of the climb from Torea Bay you are rewarded with fantastic views of Queen Charlotte Sound and Kenepuru Sounds.

The cache is a 500ml container covered in Duck/Gaffer black tape. Inside is just a log and a few small plastic toys.

NOTE: no pen/pencil in cache (as I didn't have time to put one in) – if you have one, can you put one in and let me know, much appreciated.

If caching with children be careful of the water.

The cache will be maintained by my friends who live nearby.
