FHC 75th Anniversary Series #4
The Empire presents… The FHC 75th Anniversary Series. The fourth cache by The Empire and the fourth and final cache in the FHC 75th Anniversary series is placed at Footscray Park. The Club’s early decades were based at Footscray Park near the old Pioneer Hotel, adjacent to Lynch’s Bridge before a move to Johnson reserve in 1965.
During the 30’s & 40’s two ladies clubs competed in Footscray. ‘Footscray Centrals’ was the affiliated group, so named because a separate Footscray ladies club competed between 1936 & 1946. The ‘Centrals’ tag was dropped in the late 40’s after the separate ladies club disbanded. Roy ‘Monkey’ Campbell lost his dentures in the mud at the Lynch’s Bridge ground in the forties.
This is another micro cache. From ground zero you can view what is now a band stand and local cricket oval. Be aware of high muggle activity in the park, especially walking and riding past, along the river. There is a pencil in the cache, but no room for swaps.
