Geocache Description:

This is fairly easy terrain, however i have given it a terrain rating of 2 because of a little bit of bush to walk through, only a few meters and a bit of slope on the walk from the car park. No special equipment needed.

I put this one in as a "Kiddies Cache" i suppose. I always visit this spot, and Peechelba is a beautiful little town. The reserve has public toilets available and will give the traveller a chance to stop away from the road and stretch the legs. There is a bbq here as well if you feel like a cook up. If you have kids, good chance to let them out and have a stretch and run around as well. I have 7 kids, and travelling with them is hard, they need constant breaks.......

Initial contents include a log book, pen, and several small kids toys. The container is a one liter flat clear plastic type in a traditional caching location.

A bit of history about Peechelba:

The area where the town of Peechelba now stands used to be part of the "Peechelba Station" a property about 150,000 acres in size.

The station and and area got its name because of "brand" that was used on cattle around the 1840's when the station came into existance. The brand had the letters PG and a bar on it and travellers in the area, after a time, had seen the brand on stock and began calling the area "Peechelba"

The area was part of a larger area including Wangaratta, Glenrowan, etc that was frequented by the "Kelly Gang" In 1865 the Bushranger and part of the Kelly Gang, "Mad" Dan Morgan took seige to the Peechelba Station and was shot dead by Police from Wangaratta a short time later. The Peechelba Station is still in existance today.

Well, just a few tid-bits. Google "Peechelba" and "The Kelly Gang" for more info if you like. I will add some more down the track.
