Mt Boyce is 3573 feet above sea level and the highest point on the Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains.
Of interest is the preserved scar tree, moved here by the RTA when it was discovered that it would have been impacted by construction works associated with the widening of the highway.
Aboriginal people used bark from scar trees for shields and coolamons. Using a stone or steel axe, the shape of the object was outlined in the bark, then the bark was pulled from the tree. This created scar trees. Care was taken to ensure that the tree was not killed by ringbarking.
It is possible to drive close to the cache location
