Geocache Description:

Butchers Pool is a free thermal pool situated just South of Reporoa. The pool was gifted to the Reporoa community in 1927 by an early settler, Mr H R Butcher.

A sign at the pool, which used to be used as a bath by the Butcher family, provides further information about this unique facility.

Well known to locals and travelers in motor-homes, the family friendly outdoor pool has a large parking area and a clean toilet / changing rooms. Several Cachers have been known to overnight here in the past. The pool can be emptied by raising a bar at one end and refilled later. Useful if soap has been used in the pool - please don't. However the pool is normally green.

The cache itself is a camouflaged 2 litre systema and was placed with an accuracy of +/- 2.5 metres with a GPSmap 76CSx. Initial Contents:

  • FTF Prize: Easy Cache Pin
  • Stash note, logbook, pencil, sharpener.
  • Kiwi bottle opener keyring, Bart, finger puppet, 2 tweenies.
  • Travel Bug.
*** PLEASE REPLACE THE CACHE AS FOUND AFTER SIGNING THE LOG. THANK YOU. ***

Amoebic Meningitis - For your safety please keep your head above water.
