Warning! This is not a great cache if you have young children or are not much of a hiker. (Probably wouldn't advise attempting this with a one and a half year old strapped to your back like I did!)The beginning of this track can be difficult when starting from Aire river. The terrain is a steep, sandy hill, although if you keep going this will pass and become a solid track. This is a lovely hike with beautiful views along the way, of both the river and the ocean. There are a couple of lookouts, with seats to have rest and lots of birds along the way. The walk is around 1 and1/2 hours at a leisurely pace from the river (and about 15 minutes back!!!)
I advise parking near the bridge and walking from there. Head along the river until you see the sand road veer to the left up the hill. From there you will see a sign indicating the Great Ocean Walk track and follow the track and your GPS from here.
