This is a Micro-cache, (a 35mm film container), containing just
a log book and pencil. It is hidden close to the station on a very
busy road - therefore please move away from the cache site to fill
in the log, take pictures, etc.
When you retrieve or replace the cache PLEASE USE GREAT CARE AND STEALTH as hundreds of
muggles walk past every day! Also please take care replacing the
container and make sure that it doesn’t fall down out of
reach! You may wish to plan to be there at a time when trains are
not about to arrive or depart!

Thanks to all the other SideTracked cache hiders for the inspiration for
this cache!
I just keep going round in
circles!
About St. Albans Abbey
Station
On May 5th 1858, the first London & North Western Railway
steam locomotive puffed majestically into St Albans Abbey Station.
There were crowds of people there to meet it, plus a procession and
dancing in the street as it had been declared as a public holiday.
Originally there were plans to extend the line northwards to Luton
and Dunstable, but for political reasons it never made it past the
planning stage.
"St. Albans" was the very first railway station to open
in St. Albans on May 5th 1858, (it was only much later in 1924 that
it was renamed ‘St. Albans Abbey’). This was
followed 7 years later by the Hatfield & St. Albans Railway
station on London Road, which opened in October 1865 (it also was
only renamed ‘St. Albans London Road’ much later
on 1st July 1950). Finally the London Midland Railway opened their
station (the current ‘St Albans City’ station)
in 1868.
Now, 150 years later, this is the northern terminus of a quiet,
single-tracked commuter line through rural Hertfordshire, linking
St. Albans to Watford via Park Street, Bricket Wood and
Garston.
About
SideTracked
There is the Motorway Mayhem cache series (& A-Road Anarchy
because there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!), but what
about public transport users?
The SideTracked series has spread
across the country and are intended to provide quick
Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations. However, because of current
concerns over security and to give 24 hour access, they are
normally placed outside the station buildings. For more information
on SideTracked Caches, please
