Drift away Traditional Cache
simonsurf: This cache has been muggled. I went for a look today and a search of the surrounding bush turned up the log book and a ps2 game cover. I will not be replacing this cache but it is still a worthwhile site to visit to take in some of the history of Mount Sugarloaf No.1 Colliery.

Old mine drift entrance
I went up to do some maintenance today and THE CACHE IS GONE!!!
As it was a very difficult cache to retrieve at the best of times, I have decided not to replace it. It is still worth the effort to go there just to see some remnants of the Mt Sugarloaf mine.

It's just an ice cream container in a plastic bag at the moment. I'll do a better job if there's much interest in this cache. It contains the bottle opener from the 'Bushranger' cache, some paper and pencils and some silly little toys.
This is an old mine site and is now crown land. Be aware of cliffs and snakes in the area and there are many mozzies about of an afternoon. It is a 5-10 minute walk from sealed roads, although the more vehicularly adventurous can drive to within about 15 metres of the cache.
You will need a stick with a hook on the end, roughly 2 metres long, to retrieve the cache. There is plenty of lantana in the area which is well suited for this purpose. A torch would be very beneficial as well.
The location is pretty well protected from satellite view, so the co-ords could be slightly off - not by much though...Try not to come in directly from the north - the first step is a doozy!
