gerrynewgirl: I have decided to archive this cache as I do not seem to be able to pick a muggle free time to replace it. GZ appears to be popular with the locals as they leave school and the muggles leaving the licencensed premises across the road.

The Brendan Hansen Park is a lovely quiet spot and is the last picnic area before heading for the Great Sandy Strait.
If you are looking for a place for a social game of cricket, then this is the park for you. It features not only a cricket pitch, but picnic tables, BBQ, toilet facilites with wheelchair access, rubbish bins, climbing fort, and other children's play equipment.
For the bird watcher enthuisast, some of the species of birds that have been spotted and recorded in this park include:

So, who was Brendan Hansen?
Brendan Percival Hansen was born on 21st August 1922 and was a long serving Labour Member for Wide Bay.
He was first elected on 9th December 1961 and was Member for Wide Bay until being defeated in 1974, he regained his political seat and continued representing Wide Bay. His career spanned three levels of politics, retiring in 1989 as a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
Brendan Percival Hansen died on 19th December 1999, he was aged 77 years.
