Berri Lookout
The Berri Lookout Tower was formed by converting a disused town water tower into a lookout. The tower is 15.8 metres high and well worth climbing to get stunning views of the Berri Township and the Murray River.
The Berri Lookout Tower was previously listed as a Traditional cache (GCQNE2).
The original cache has great sentimental value for us. In June 2007 we purchased a Garmin Nuvi and whilst registering the Nuvi on the Garmin website came across the link to the Geocaching web site. We registered at the Geocaching web site and after entering our home co-ordinates were quite surprised to find that there were a number of caches nearby, with this cache being less than 500 metres from home.
The origianl cache was the FIRST cache that we found. We found it on 30 June 2007. Having found a number of other nearby caches over the following weeks, we had to admit that we were hooked on geocaching.
It was dissapointing to see the cache was muggled and the owner archived the cache in August 2007.
In resurrecting this location, we have made it a puzzle cache. To hopefully save the cache from being regularly muggled, we have placed the cache container a small distance away from the tower (less than 50 metres). In order to find the location of the cache you will need to use the correct phone number from the hint to solve the puzzle.
A fridge magnet which contained the phone number to solve the puzzle was hidden when this cache was originally published. This fridge magnet was placed where the original cache was hidden. The fridge magnet has regretably suffered the same fate as the original cache and has been muggled.
Whilst you no longer need to climb the tower to find the cache, I suggest you do so to enjoy magnificent 360 degree views of Berri.
The tower can only be accessed from 9:00am to 5:00pm in winter but the hours are extended to 7:00pm during daylight savings time.

aa = Round up height of the tower.
bb = Divide degrees by 10.
xxx = Add 23 to initial co-ordinate.
yyy = Add 13 to initial co-ordinate.
The cache container only has room for the log sheet. PLEASE bring your own pen or pencil so you can log your find.
