Geocache Description:

This is a small cache that may take some finding. It is only suitable for small swaps and thin trackables. You will need to get up to reach this one. Beware this is a high muggle area, as most of the SRS caches are.

Another Stop. Revive. Survive area you may like to use on your trip to your destination. Break the boredom.

Elizabeth Park is a well shaded, lovely area to pull up and stretch the legs. Covered tables, toilets and tap water are some of the facilities that are available. After you utilise these, a cache is to be found.

The Scone district is the second most popular horse breeding area in the world. Second to Kentucky USA.

Mare and Foal Sculpture

The Mare and Foal Sculpture was an idea conceived by a local grazier in 1979 to signify the importance of horses in the area. The Scone Tourist Committee considered the idea and bought it forward to Mr D Archibald. He then approached galleries and a sculpture centre in order to find the right sculpture.

The Mare and Foal, sculpted by Gabriel Sterk, a renowned artist, was chosen for the sensitivity in depicting a mare with her new born foal. On the 1st July, 1980 a fundraising Committee was formed to purchase the sculpture. It was done at a cost of $65,000 and was officially unveiled on the 3rd March 1982 by the Hon. E L Belford, Minister for Planning and Environment in front of a very large crowd. The sculpture is a popular attraction for passing travellers particularly children who tend to have an added shine to this much admired feature of Elizabeth Park.
