I've adopted this famous cache from CaleD who has left the country and can no longer maintain the series of hides he placed. I am happy to provide continuity for this old cache and preserve its heritage for future cachers.
This cache is in one of the more beautiful parts of the Gold Coast Hinterland. The land that this cache is placed on was purchased by the Gold Coast City Council as part of the Open Space Conservation project. At the time of placing the park was burnt off to reduce fire load. Luckily for cachers, the burning-off required the construction of fire trails through the bush: make good use of them!
If you enter the bush at the correct spot, you shouldn't have to leave a trail. The question is... which spot is the correct spot?
In regards to parking, there isn't any. It's possible to park a car beside the road (there's enough room on the side to park safely), but there is no defined place to leave your car. If you're planning on visiting the cache at night, take a good torch. There are a few rocks and branches that might be dangerous if you can't see where you're going.
At Waypoint One there's a container with the coordinates for GZ. The cache may be a little tricky to find. GPS accuracy in the area is pretty low, so you might have to poke around a bit at the GZ to find what you're looking for. The trail is quite steep in some places, so I wouldn't recommend taking small kids. There may be rocks/branches/logs in some parts as well. Watch out for snakes and other wild reptiles in warmer months. Be sure to take water and sunscreen, and, as always, a phone 'just in case'. Also be prepared if you get bitten by a snake.
The cache is a regular lunchbox sized container. Please remember to put the lid on properly. The cache originally contained a notebook and some trinkets. Plenty of room for TBs.
