Geocache Description:

We thought long and hard before registering this cache, because of the distressing amount of rubbish found at the start of the track, too large a quantity for a Cache In Trash Out effort.

We have notified the Far North District Council about the rubbish so hopefully they will pick it up soon. Let us know if it is still there when you seek the cache.
The reason we finally decided to place this cache here is that
a. the area is stunningly beautiful
b. we found flowers and leaves in the bush which had heavenly scents and aromas and
c. walking tracks are precious few in this under-developed area.
Along the path, see if you can find the fragrant native plants we found. One had tiny green flowers which resembled and smelled like daphne. Another had leaves which smelled like peppermint.
The cache is a 500 ml camo-painted hand-cream container which when hidden contained logging items and swaps.
The name of the cache, Orowhana, is the name of the tall peak further up the valley. This peak is of great significance to the local Maori people of Manukau marae, another of Con's tribes.
